Navigating Success in a Complex Environment
The first tenant of the program is concerned with a focus on navigating success of a leader and his/her teams role, results, and relationships in a complex environment.  What is complexity?  How leadership is applied inwardly and outwardly are two different venues and require different skill sets and "hats".   This a broader view than simply managing up or managing down.   Navigating ideas effectively require special attention to a consultative point of view development.   Creating alliances, building community & sponsorship, telling the story in the appropriate dialect of the sub culture, and aligning the right facts with the right people are aspects of "mapping" work.   Underneath all this the leader must be highly self aware of their own emotional attachments and emotional intelligence to build effective working relationships (and know which battles to fight or to engage in....).


Leadership from the Ground Up
Leaders exist in all parts of the organization regardless of title, position, or responsibilities.  Any individual who is able to articulate and navigate timely ideas outward into the organization and translate that work into a valuable footprint of results and relationships is a leader.   A leader is also someone who is able to expand the value of their role in creative and meaningful ways.


Visual Thinking
The Engagement Code™ approach  uses a slew of simple but powerful visual concepts to help a leader at any level of the organization not just change specific point behaviors - but rather -shift their thinking based on how they view themselves inside the visual models.  The models cross the whole program interconnect and relate to one another to bring a powerful perspective together on a better way of thinking, communicating, leading, and ultimately succeeding for themselves and the greater good of the organization. 


Effectiveness of Delegation & Collaboration Points
Leadership doesn't happen unless people are doing something meaninfully good for the business based on solid delegation and collaboration follow through.   The composite of the team and its ability to managing work load (and load balancing across the team) impacts expectation management and delivery of work.   Likewise the "cultural distance" a team or team lead must travel to establish productive collaboration with their business counterparts can become a hidden complexity in navigating the terrain toward results.     This program ties individual coaching principles to the real life dynamics of the group's frustrations and opportunities around delegation and collaboration.
